We are excited about our Virtual Academy that offers a highly-effective way to meet student needs using high-quality, internet-based courses to help prepare students for the challenges and complexities of the 21st Century.
The Virtual Academy allows us to bring together engaging online courses that enable students to work on their own time and earn high school credits in a way that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to accomplish.
For instance, our online summer school program has helped students make up courses needed to get back on track and graduate with their friends. Internet-based instruction helps tremendously in keeping students on schedule by allowing them to take classes during semesters when the courses are not being offered in the school classroom setting.
The great advantage of the Virtual Academy is its ability to offer course credits in subject areas that enhance the curriculum of every high school. This program can meet the needs of all St. Tammany students, from the highest achieving students to those who may be struggling with certain courses.
We believe the Virtual Academy is an excellent broad-based program. This concept can develop in many wonderful directions. The Virtual Academy is truly a way to offer the highest quality courses to the widest possible audience, providing a service to all our high schools that will enable them to share outstanding teachers and enhance their curriculums.
